The West Toowoomba Vet Surgery was established in 1988 and has grown to become a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary surgery providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. As a one-vet practice we can ensure continuity of personalised care - unlike larger practices where your pet is often passed from one vet to another.

• We provide comprehensive health care for dogs and cats. This includes vaccination and desexing programmes, medical and surgical care for sick and injured pets, dental care, endoscopy, radiology, micro-chipping and puppy pre-school. We have an in-house laboratory so that we can the answers to those health questions FAST!  If we feel a problem is beyond our abilities to give state-of-the-art treatment, we have a referral network of specialists who we can always rely on to ensure that your pet gets the best possible care.

• We are the first specialist bird practice in Queensland, and the only one outside Brisbane. Dr. Bob Doneley qualified as a Specialist in Bird Medicine in 2003 - the first in Queensland - and has more than 25 years experience in treating birds of all descriptions and types. We offer bird owners comprehensive medical and surgical care, diagnostic endoscopy, radiology, in-house laboratory, surgical sexing, behavioural counselling and avicultural health programmes. This level of care is not available anywhere else in Queensland.

• Small and unusual pets, such as mice, rats and guinea pigs, are always welcome at the West Toowoomba Vet Surgery. Believe it or not, we regularly perform surgical procedures such as desexing, lump removals and even caesarians on these delightful animals. As the Adjunct Associate Professor in Avian and Exotic Pet Medicine at the University of Queensland Veterinary School, Dr. Doneley is responsible for teaching veterinary students and fellow veterinarians many of the key points and critical aspects of caring for the more unusual pets.

• Reptiles and amphibians are also regular visitors here. Each year we see and treat a wide range of reptiles and amphibians - both wildlife and captive bred specimens. Medical and surgical care, as well as modern hospital facilities for these fascinating animals are provided.

• And lastly - but not the least - we also provide medical and basic surgical care for fish! We see a lot of fish each year, and our expertise continues to grow.

• We carry a range of select pet foods and pet accessories. Every item is selected by our staff - and often used by them on their own pets - for its suitability with a wide range of animals. Some of these items are also available in reputable pet stores - but many are not.
