Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. For more complicated cases, eg hip replacements, complicated fractures, etc, we offer a referral to one of several specialist surgical practices in Brisbane.

Mobile Vet:  Sometimes it is easiest or best for your pet to be seen in the comfort of their own home.  We are able to do house calls for all routine or non-routine medical services.  While there is an extra charge for this service, it can be the less stressful for pet and owner.  We do ask that house calls to be arranged as far in advance as possible.

Anaesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. All animals under anaesthesia are placed on intravenous fluids to maintian their blood pressure. Using the most modern equipment (Doppler ultrasound, pulse oximeters and respiratory monitors), the patient's vital signs are constantly monitored during all anaesthetic procedures.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.  We also utilise ultrasound to improve our ability to diagnose internal conditions in not just dogs and cats, but also in birds, reptiles and small mammals.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site that includes a consultation with veterinary cardiologist.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, haematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: We can insert a microchip into your dog, cat, bird or reptile for permanent identification. See
here

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets for patients with special dieary needs.

Individualised Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.  We only stock premium pet foods and are happy to discuss your pet's individual needs.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding: We offer a boarding service for birds, rodents and reptiles. Each boarded animal receives individual care and attention from our staff, and is fed a specialised diet.

Bathing and grooming:  Posh Paws grooming is now on-site and offers bathing and grooming of cats and dogs Monday to Friday with hydrobathing only on Saturday.

Emergency Care:  We have a veterinarian on call for emergencies at all times outside our normal business hours. To contact the veterinarian, all you have to do is ring the Surgery's phone number. Please have a pen and paper ready to take down details of how to contact the vet on call.

Euthanasia:  Please feel free to come and discuss this with us.  It is always a difficult decision but one which is often in the best interests of your pet.  It can be done at the surgery or in the privacy of your own home.  We can arrange disposal afterwards or we recommend Beric at Pets Rest in Peace.  He can be contacted on 46330290 or  www.petsrip.com.au.
