Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. For more complicated cases, eg hip replacements, complicated fractures, etc, we offer a referral to one of several specialist surgical practices in Brisbane.
Anaesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. All animals under anaesthesia are plced on intravenous fluids to maintian their blood pressure. Using the most modern equipment (Doppler ultrasound, pulse oximeters and respiratory monitors), the patient's vital signs are constantly monitored during all anaesthetic procedures.
Internal medicine consults: We can offer referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures and help us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Where second opinions are necessary, we can send the films to the Queensland University Veterinary School radiologists for interpretation. We also utilise ultrasound to improve our ability to diagnose internal conditions in not just dogs and cats, but also in birds, reptiles and small mammals.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site that includes a consultation with veterinary cardiologist.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. For major orthodontic procedures or root canals, we refer cases to a veterinary dentist in Brisbane.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, haematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We can insert a microchip into your dog, cat, bird or reptile for permanent identification. See here
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets for patients with special dieary needs.
Individualised Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. For serious behavioural issues, such as aggression or where the pet faces euthanasia or re-homing, we can refer you to a veterinary behaviouralist in Brisbane.
Boarding: We have a simple arrangement with the local boarding kennels. They don't do surgery, and we don't board dogs and cats! However, we do offer a boarding service for birds, rodents and reptiles. Each boarded animal receives individual care and attention from our staff, and is fed a healthy diet while with us.
Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.
Emergency Care: We have a veterinarian on call for emergencies at all times outside our normal business hours. To contact the veterinarian, all you have to do is ring the Surgery's phone number. Have a pen and paper ready to take down details of how to contact the vet on call.
