West Toowoomba Vet Surgery
Caring for Pets... and people too

Welcome to our news page, where we hope to keep you informed on news and events at the West Toowoomba Vet Surgery.

Staff Changes

We're sorry to announce that one of our veterinary nurses, Sacha, has left the practice to move to the Sunshine Coast with her partner. She has already started work in a vet surgery at Currimindi. Sacha worked here for 4 years and was a valued member of our staff. We're all missing her and, if you see her, tell her to come home!

We have some new staff members starting in the next few weeks - Natalie and Vanetta. You'll be able to read about them in our staff pages in a few days. We welcome them to our practice and we're sure that you will make them welcome as well!

It's Official - We are the Best - AGAIN!

No Description resized to 300 pixels wideThe West Toowoomba Vet Surgery was recently awarded the CFM Radio "Best Vet Surgery in Toowoomba" prize after a phone poll of its Toowoomba listeners. This makes three years running now - we won the award in 2006, 2007 and again this year! It was gratifying to get this sort of feedback, and to all of you who voted for us - "Thank You"!!

Corporate Citizen Award

At the Regional Business Awards held in Toowoomba on the 3rd November, 2006, Bob Doneley (pictured with his wife, Maree) was presented with the 2006 Corporate Citizen Award on behalf of the Surgery. The award, sponsored by the Toowoomba City Council, was recognition of the Surgery's fundraising efforts for the Leukaemia Foundation Shave for a Cure (over $10,000 in the last 4 years), its support for CanTeen (teenagers living with cancer) and for the annual Children's Christmas Party (we are only one of three local businesses to have supported the Christmas Party every year since 1995), sponsorship of a local boy's basketball team, and for the work we do in treating wildlife. Congratulations to all at the Surgery in their efforts that resulted in this prestigious award!

The Toady Award comes to Toowoomba

Dr. Bob Doneley has been awarded the prestigious Toady Award. This award is given each year to the best speaker at the annual conference of the Unusual and Exotic Pets Veterinarians. Bob gave two presentations at the conference in Cairns in September 2007; Desexing Guinea Pigs and Practical Avian Orthopaedics. These were judged by the conference attendees as the best presentations in a line up that included spinal disease in snakes, diseases of amphibians, desexing rabbits, skin conditions in rabbits, and diagnosing disease in fish.
